DURGOTSAV :

But above all things the 'DURGOTSAV' celebration is the best.During this festive season we also carry out our social services. Clothes distribution is done around this time just to bring a smile to the faces of the people who have got njothing to cherish during this time. We are now into our 35th year celebration.From around nine years back Debdaru Fatak Club has ventured into a new territory.The 'theme' puja.Though we do not agree with thisterm.Our main aim during this last 8years has been to promote the dying and nearly lost arts and crafts of Bengal And nearby Orissa.through our Durga Puja we have putforward nearly lost arts and crafts like 'Dasavatar tash' of Bishnupur,different dolls from all over Bengal,'Zari' works , Pipli of Orissa,umbrella festival of the adivasis,chou danceform and the list goes on,and we think we are quite successful in our effort.Footfall has increased year after year and our humble works have been recognised through numerous awards.And most importanyly all the mentoined form of arts like zari,taash,pipli have received a new lease of life after we showcased their brilliance to the world.We just want to act as the platform from where we can endow people with the lost culture and art of India and also about their sufferings and problems they are facing.

ACTIVITIES :

When the seeds were sown in the year 1973 , Our activities were small .But slowly we gained momentum and now we have become one of the most busiest clubs in Behala.We are a club that never sleeps .With over 250 members,the club is engaged in various activities.Last year we broke our own record by distributing clothes and blankets to more than 550 needy people.Previous year we gave it around to 500 people.This time we plan to go much higher thasn that.
OUR OTHER ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR ARE :

1. Arrangement of drinking water for the commoners throughout the year .
2. First-Aid checkposts round the year.
3. Distribution of clothes,blankets,sweets to the old and needy people during the pujas.
4. Health check up camps in association with reputed medical institutions are held every month.(like B.P PODDAR MEDICAL INSTITUTE). the tests that are done are eyetest,blood pressure,blood sugar,e.c.g,nerve test and also general check up.
5. Blood donation camps are organised in association with renowned blood banks from all over KOLKATA.
6. TO maintain communal harmony 'SARBA DHARMA SMANNAY RAKHI UTSAV' is held by the club members.
7. TO remember the glorious heroes of our freedom struggle and to strengthen the patriotic bond among the residents of our locality ,NETAJI'S BIRTHDAY,REPUBLIC DAY ,INDEPENDENCE DAY.and GANDHIJI'S birthday are observed at the club grounds.
8. Cultural programmes like Rabindra- Nazrul Sandhya,Bijoya Sanmilani are organised and performed by the residents.
9. We felicitate students securing outstanding marks at the board exams.
10. And also financially support two meritorious butb needy students to continue with their studies.
11. We have provided accidental and life insurance to the local rickshawpullers,and craftsmen who work in our puja.
12. We have opened savings bank accounts for the local rickshawpullers at Allahabad Bank,free of cost.
13. The Blind School of Behala has been also given financial and medical support by us.
14. Drawing competitions are held for physically challenged children'
15. Annual Sports Day,One Day long Cricket tournament , Night Football Competition are few recreation that we provide to everyone.
16. Behala Debdaru Fatak Club has always supported the persons who are needy and in distress.So we have collected funds for tsunami,gujrat Earth Quake and Flood victims for the relief Funds

CLUB PREMISES :

At first we had no club premises when we started off. But the members accumulated money just like drop by drop from their personal savings, and from this accumulated money our club premises came up in the year 2000 at 2A ATYA SAMITY ROAD

ABOUT US:

BEHALA DEBDARU FATAK CLUB came up comprising of a bunch of local youths in the year 1973 .A gang of youth craving to serve the masses fielded their cause through this club. In the same year they organised a durgotsav in the locality(ARYA SAMITY ROAD) . Slowly people of the locality flocked in . In numbers they came ,ageing from 10 to 80 .Such huge was the response.The members devoted much of their time in organising the 'para' to celebrate several 'pujas', Sports day ,Picnics were held annualy for recreation.Independence day,Republic day celebrations were observed to strenghten the bond of patriotism in the 'para'.A longt 30 years has gone down by the lane .Debdaru fatak club which went unnoticed several years back is now one of the main organisers of several cultural and social activities done throughout Behala. A prime patron of the 'BEHALA UTSAV' , Debdaru fatak club is the pioneer in promoting social awareness in Behala .
